KampData Tax EngineTax Engine Product DescriptionThe KampData Tax Engine™ is a plug in product that brings sales tax related features to other applications. If you create or are able to modify an order entry application that integrates with Microsoft Dynamics® GP, you can enable the KampData Tax Engine features in that application. The tax engine is a .NET DLL written in C# that presents an Application Programming Interface (API) which allows its features to be utilized inside other .NET and/or COM enabled applications. Free Version The KampData Tax Engine Lite™ is available free of charge. The lite version provides a subset of the features contained in the full version of the KampData Tax Engine ™. Tax Engine FeaturesFeatures enabled in the KampData Tax Engine Lite™ include:IV Site: The tax engine supports Pickup/Delivery Shipping Types. For sales transactions, the IV Site is the tax location for Pickup shipping types and the ship-to address is the tax location for Delivery shipping types. For purchase transactions, the opposite is true under the assumption that the taxable location is the place that you take possession of the goods or services. Tax Calculation: The tax engine calculates sales and use tax. The Microsoft Dynamics GP tax details and tax schedules can be utilized by the tax engine for this purpose. Transaction History: The tax engine can save complete tax history from the tax calculation process providing a solid basis for tax reporting. Tax Reports: The tax engine includes comprehensive and flexible tax reporting options. Additional features enabled in the full version of the KampData Tax Engine™ include:Zip Addressing: Send the KampData Tax Engine a valid ZIP Code and it will return the default city, county, and state for that ZIP Code. The KampData Tax Engine also makes available array lists of valid city, county, and state choices for that ZIP Code. Tax Schedule Selection: Based on the city, county, state, and ZIP Code selected, The KampData Tax Engine will provide the default tax schedule ID, description, and initial tax rate. Tax schedule selection can be further controlled by specifying taxable/exempt and in/out of city limits. Customer Tax Location: The tax engine checks the customer tax location table to see if the customer is taxable or exempt in the tax location. Item Tax Location: The tax engine checks the item tax location table to see if the item is taxable or exempt in the tax location. Tax Matrix: The tax engine automatically assigns each line-item’s tax schedule using any or all of the following: tax location (state, county, city, city limits and tax district), inventory site, item category & subcategory, customer category & subcategory, and special option. The resulting tax calculation can be further controlled as to percent taxable for the overall tax schedule or for specific tax details. Tax exemptions can also be managed using the tax matrix. Sample applications are included with The KampData Tax Engine. The C#, Visual Basic, and Dexterity code for these sample applications is included in the help file. Requirements Microsoft Dynamics GP (R8 or later): The KampData Tax Engine is not a standalone application. Microsoft Dynamics GP (R8 or later) is required. The KampData Tax Engine works only with Microsoft Dynamics GP (R8 or later) running on SQL Server or MSDE.
Programming: The tax
engine must be integrated with your purchase or sales entry application, so
programming is required. Schedule Selection ProcessThe KampData Tax Engine uses the following process to determine sales and use tax:
